Rushcliffe 50+ Forum
New members are greatly welcome, and we are particularly looking for members to join management.
The aims of the Forum are to improve and sustain the quality of life of people aged fifty and over and living in Rushcliffe. We do this by providing a forum for the presentation and discussion of issues and the determination and implementation of appropriate action.
We hold 4 open forums each year at various venues.
Objectives:
- To enable the voices of older people to be heard
- To provide an effective advocate for older people’s views
- To provide older people with information on issues that do or might affect them
- To arrange for members to network with service providers
- To monitor new services and developments that affect older people
- To inform statutory, voluntary and private organisations about older people’s views on existing and proposed services.
- To promote and publish the results of research into the needs of older people in relation to the provision of community care.
- To improve older people’s knowledge of benefits, services or facilities available in the areas of finance (including pensions), health, housing, welfare, leisure and crime prevention.
- To increase older people’s awareness of safety and security in and outside the home.
- To influence policy and practice affecting older people at local, regional and national levels.
- To increase awareness of the International Plan of Action on Ageing, adopted at the Second World Assembly on Ageing, Madrid 2002.
