The Cornwater Club provides a facility for older people in the village of Ravenshead and surrounding areas to meet and socialise. We provide companionship, social rehabilitation, a varied programme of activities and lunch.

The Thursday Club caters for those older local residents who may be forgetful or confused, who need a little closer care and may welcome a slightly quieter atmosphere than the usual Cornwater Club session. We also aim to provide a few hours’ respite for their carers.

The programme of activities has included movement to music, art classes, craft lessons, travel talks, quizzes and table games. Other services include massage, manicure and chiropody, which are provided by specialists for a small charge.

Outings to places of interest and local attractions are organised throughout the year, and there are also occasional theatre trips and a weekend away. Shopping visits to local supermarkets can be arranged on a door-to-door basis.

Transport to the centre is provided by the Ravenshead Community Bus and meetings are held at Ravens Lodge (Scout HQ) on Main Road. The Centre is staffed by 6 part-time staff and other volunteers, and those involved in the Thursday Club have received specialist training with the emphasis on person-centred care.

There is a small daily charge that covers lunch and all activities – refreshments including tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks are provided at no extra cost.
